Clarifications:

1) Rough drafts must be at least 15 000 words. If you only have 10 000 words, or you have had a ridiculous second half of 2009 and are confident you can make up the remainder by January/February, e-mail us re: extensions. (We are inclined to err on the side of forgiveness, given how much Lynn needs it!)

2) Rough drafts are rough i.e. they can be incomplete, disjointed, have missing beginnings, ends and middles. We are not asking to see anything that is remotely polished. XD

3) Because we've been having trouble co-ordinating drive.a Gmail accounts, we are asking that all rough drafts be submitted to sulynncheah at gmail dot com, and cc'ed to lindra at gmail dot com. Any format is okay.

4) Due date is 30th November 2009.

5) Any questions should be directed to sulynncheah at gmail and cc'ed to lindra at gmail. You may also leave a comment on this post.

Good luck writing! We're really looking forward to seeing what people come up with. :D :D :D

Talked with [personal profile] lindra and we've decided to extend the due date for rough drafts to the end of this month. Extensions for any later date will be decided on a case-by-base basis.

(The deadline for sign-ups will remain the same).

Hi, all!

It's two weeks until the project draft deadline of November 15th, and we hope you're all doing well and steaming along smoothly.

A few things of general note:

Please remember that if you are participating and you have not signed up on the signup post, please do. Similarly, if you have decided that you are not participating, whether because life got in the way or general issues, please please do tell us and if it's something we can help you with, we'll do our best!

Speaking of teams, it's not necessary to form teams right now, since we'll be running around making sure everyone has a team of some sort by November 14th, but if you have, please let us know about your team at the team sign-up post if you have not already done so.

If you are running into issues with your fic, your team, or you have general concerns, or simply want to tell us how well you're doing, please, please, please get into touch with us. We're both easily contactable -- you can check in here, or PM either of us on LJ or DW.

Hope you're all enjoying Drive A. :) :)

Hi,

Just dropping note to say that if you haven't received an e-mail from me by now, your e-mail is very possibly recorded incorrectly in our records (On the other hand, Gmail could just be out to get me again.). If so, we'd really appreciate it if you dropped us a comment here to update your contact details!

Cheers,

FANDOM CAFE POST NOW OPEN!

Hey, participants, observers and those who lurk, whether it's to see what's happening or cheer on participants! This is the fandom chat post, mirrored on LJ/DW for all of your needs, as not everyone watches both communities and we'd like you all to be part of the fun.

Participants are getting emails right about now with details of things we need to talk to you about -- team listings, how you're going, that sort of thing. Nothing horrible, I promise, but regretfully, this is the halfway mark already.

No, really, it is.(Where did the time go?) Please don't panic, we're on standby for all your needs. If you need to talk to us, we're always available in email, in comments, or in chat! Speaking of chat, another one is happening tomorrow night Australian time and will last through for a good 24 hours if all goes well, and we'll post again when it's up and running.

We realise not everyone can or wants to use AIM, or likes email, or is even a direct participant, so we the moderator figured it would be a good time to throw the community open to everyone in fandom: how are you doing with your projects? Your pet participants? what's your opinion on the latest issue of Shin Tenipuri? (like it? Hate it? Indifferent? Will the manga always be the one true canon?) Any interesting art ideas in the pipeline? Have drabbles you just don't know where to post?

Need to rant? Need to rave? Here you are, and have fun!

...hai, just to let you know that there'll be a Drive A Big Bang chat hosted on AIM (open to fandom-at-large, as all our peripheral activities are) next week, starting Saturday 3rd of October evening in Australian/New Zealand time zones (i.e early Saturday morning for the other side of the world). We're aiming to have the chat last approximately twenty-four hours so as to cover as many time zones as possible, but this may depend on mod availability.

The probable chat mods will be myself, [personal profile] lindra, [personal profile] shiorikazen, and [personal profile] jetsam.

We'll make an announcement with chatroom details when the time comes. Feel free to leave questions at this post!

Over the next week or two I'll be sending out e-mails to the people who have signed up, just to see how things are going and to say hello!

In the meantime, if anyone is having problems getting started with their projects, making progress, or getting a team organised, please feel free to contact either [personal profile] lindra or myself, to see if we can help in any way! You can leave a comment at this post, or else PM either one of us.

cheers,
Lynn

Hi, participants, volunteers, and hangers-on!

The first Tenipuri Big Bang chat is getting started as of right now.

That's roughly 5-8AM for Americans, depending on whether you live on the West or East Coast, and given your distribution, most of you are American! We apologise for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, neither of your big bang mods or chat mods live in American time zones, but as this chat is a trial run for our current chat mods (myself and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] shiorikazen, we're going to try and schedule chats at different times to accommodate as many of our participants as possible. (We're definitely going to be having them over the weekends.)

And if you're around on AIM and interested in talking about Tenipuri, your big bang, bouncing fic/art ideas, and snagging new team members, please join the chatroom 'drivea' on AIM or IM shiorikazen for an invite! We'd love to have you!

ETA at roughly 11 AM EST: Shiori and I are flagging, so she's going offline and if people want to chat, they'll have to invite themselves to drivea since I have no invite capability. We're going to let this chat die naturally for now and restart it at 9-10 PM EST tonight to give other timezones a chance to join in. Thanks to everyone who participated!

WELCOME TO THE CANON SCOUT POST

Where anyone can post questions, and anyone can answer, and we have a team of volunteers standing by raring to go!

This post is for the little details of canon or near-canon that are bugging you in your project: When did Nanjiroh actually retire? What's the name of Akutsu's mother anyway? What's Inui's favourite food? Why and when did Rikkai get the new jackets? Is Sakaki REALLY a music teacher, and where did it come from? What does Chitose's room look like?

This post will be open to questions until posting begins, both for participants and pinch-hitters, so feel free to keep asking as you get those details hammered out!

Reminder to canonscouts: please track this post in both locations so you don't miss questions (DW; LJ).

And we're off!

Stuck for ideas? Have an idea but don't particularly want to write/draw it? Feel free to leave any and all prompts here!

Feel free to use the banners to help plug the Tenipuri big bang. (in fact we could really use some more word-of-mouth at the moment, so if you think your f-list might be interested we'd really appreciate your spreading the word...)

Also, a bunch of [community profile] drive_a icons. Feel free to use them on your personal journals, as long as you give credit to the icon creators.

If anyone is interested in making other graphics for [community profile] drive_a - well, *coughs*, [personal profile] lindra and I, WE ARE NOT PHOTOSHOP FANS, so we are dependent on the tender mercies of the community as far as this is concerned. We'll update the list here if/when other wonderful people offer graphics. :) :) :)

Some clarification regarding teams:

1) You don't have to join a team straight away. If you are a writer you can simply start writing your 20K fic, traditional big bang style, and then submit a rough draft to us by November 14, which is when we'll run a final round of team allocations and make sure that everyone is in a team. Of some sort.

2) If you are the sort of writer who is physically not likely to produce 15K by Nov 14, consider forming a team early on with another writer so that each of you can simply do half the writing each! (Remember that a single team is required to produce 20K of fic and 3 pieces of art; there's no restrictions on how many writers or artists you wish to have on that team.)

3) If you have beta readers and/or artists that you normally work with, by all means rope them in to work with you. Just remember that they too have to submit an official sign-up form to us in order to be listed as a Big Bang participant.

4) If you're an artist and you'd much rather simply produce three illustrations for a fic that has already been drafted, you can also wait until November for the final team allocations in order to be assigned to a team. However, if there is a writer you are particularly keen to work with, you may be better off forming a team with them early on in the sign-up period.

5) As said in the rules post, if you are an artist who would like to find writers to fanfic your fanart, it is also necessary to form a team early on because writing 20K of fic can take a fair bit of time and it is very unlikely that you will be able to find writers if you start looking in November.

Before you sign-up please read the Rules and Information Post.

This sign-up post is for Big Bang participants only, i.e. writers, artists, and betas. If you wish to help as a volunteer with the challenge then head to the volunteers post.

Sign-ups will remain open until November 14th; if you are a writer please note that a rough draft of minimum 15K words is due on this date. If you cannot produce a draft of this length by then, your sign-up will not be accepted.

If you have already made arrangements with other people to be in a team together please indicate so in your sign-up form. If you have not decided who you wish to work with, you may at any stage submit a request to be assigned to a team at the team matching post.

Once you have signed-up you must join and watch either [community profile] drive_a on Dreamwidth or [livejournal.com profile] drive_a on Livejournal. If you would like a Dreamwidth invite code please indicate this on your sign-up form.

To sign up, copy & paste the form from the textbox into a comment and fill out or delete where necessary.

Not interested in writing/drawing/beta reading? Already participating as a writer/artist/beta but interested in doing something more? This is [community profile] drive_a's official call for volunteers.

At the moment we're looking for volunteers particularly in the following areas:

canon scouts: In the near-future we'll be opening a post for participants to pose questions regarding canon (and erm, canon-related issues). What does Kaidou's room look like? What is Saeki's favourite food? What colour are the Rikkai uniforms really? If anyone would like to volunteer to hunt down these tantalising facts, please by all means sign-up!

layouts, banners, and icons: your current friendly mods are erm, to say the least, extremely Photoshop-challenged. If anyone would like to offer their mad S2 and iconing skills in the service of the official big bang, we would love you very very much.

dreamwidth invite codes: as we will be using DW as the main host of this challenge, we'd like to be able to offer invite codes to anyone who is in need of them. If you still have lots of codes to spare, we would welcome it if you offer them.

chats: at some point we'll be organising official big bang chats in a variety of the time zones and instant messenging services (e.g. AIM, Windows Live, Gtalk). anyone who is willing to help host a chat of any duration, in any instant messenging service, is much appreciated!

If you would like to help out in a general way and aren't interested in any of the above, still please feel free to leave a comment here, as it is likely that we may be more in need of admin-type help later on in the challenge.

To sign-up as a volunteer, leave a comment on this entry with the following information:

Hello, and welcome to the rules of the first Tenipuri Big Bang!

These rules are a little different from other Big Bangs because the mods recognise that fanart and fanwork like fan soundtracks and vids are a large part of Tenipuri fandom, particularly when it comes to fanart. We recognise that Tenipuri fanart is a large part of why people enjoy fandom and why Tenipuri fandom would appreciate a Big Bang, and so we bring you a structure that will hopefully level the playing field so that artists can get as much exposure and opportunity to direct the finished work as writers usually do in these challenges.

So, onwards!
